I’m Baaaaack!! You might remember me from such reviews as Crazy Forts!
That’s right, I was so excited when Lisa asked me to take on a new review for Mastermind Toys and the Wheel of Toy landed on Speed Stacks!
I had seen the Speed Stacks on TV before but had never tried them out myself. We received the Speed Stacks StackPack ($39.95)and the Speed Stacks Competition Cups ($19.95) and got to work figuring it all out.
One of my favourite things about the Speed Stacks is that they come with a cool Timer and Carry Case. As any parent knows, the most annoying thing about a toy is that once opened, there is usually nowhere to store it.
I was a little worried about the age suggestion of 4 and up because my son just turned 4 years old and I wasn’t sure how he would handle the Stacks. Luckily for me, I have one of those kids who doesn’t realize that something may be too big for him and he powered through!
We (I) watched “How To” the video that was included with our Speed Stacks and it taught me some great secrets on how to excel at it. Unfortunately I was playing against a 2 and 4 year old so I was forced to set my ego aside and let them win a few times. Of course I had to crush them a few times so they would know that Daddy is a gamer too.
Something funny happened while I watched my son stack and unstack his cups too, he was not only learning but he was also concentrating. In this day of TV, iPhones and Handheld Video Games, it’s nearly impossible to get kids to concentrate on anything for longer than 5 minutes but the Speed Stacks had him completely hooked!
I am a huge fan of the Speed Stacks sets and my kids have had a blast playing with them too. They may not understand the whole point of them but I am more than happy with the fact that they are learning new skills like concentration and hand-eye coordination.
After we spent some time playing and learning the ins and outs of the Speed Stack way of life, we decided to put together a video of the very first Speed Stacks Olympics! I hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it!
