When Lisa said that I could choose any toy I wanted to review I was thrilled! It was totally that moment when your grandmother took you to a candy store and said “get whatever you want, dear.” So, what did you do? You would scour every inch of the store, check in every container and box looking for the BEST candy. Well, this was the same. I scoured all of their products and although I probably could have just taken about every product home with me, I chose the Skipper Ladybird Wheely ($79.95). This was the perfect toy since Princess Peach is just over a year old, very active, and walking. Although I was very excited about my choice Princess Peach is a hard sell and I was hoping that she would like it. Luckily, this toy surpassed our expectations and we both love it!
The picture on the box of the product does not do justice for how cute this toy actually is. It is stylish and it’s not made out of plastic so it breaks the barriers of the ugly, plastic looking toys. The Ladybird Wheely has a smooth and rounded plywood base, a vinyl seat cover that is very easy to clean, and a wooden handle. Unlike most toys the Ladybird Wheely does not have make annoying sounds or sing songs, buttons to press, or lights to glimmer yet this toys is very appealing and inviting. The Ladybird Wheely is sleek, and everyone who has come to our house has commented on what a cute and nice looking toy it is. Seriously. Friends and family members with and without children all come into our playroom and instantly notice the toy.
To me a toy must be useable in the short term and durable in the long term - meaning that it needs to be a toy that will peak Princess Peach’s attention over and over again. It also has to stand the test of time in terms of quality and should be able to be used on a variety of surfaces. This only became important to me through trial and error. We bought Princess Peach a plastic toy walker that converts to a car. Nice right? Well, it can’t be used on a variety of surfaces so it’s a pretty useless toy. The Ladybird Wheely is great because we have a variety of surfaces in our house; carpet, tile (grooved actually, not my choice) and hardwood. A fun toy like this should also be able to be used outside on our interlock driveway. It passed each surface test with flying colours! The castor wheels rotate 360 degrees making riding the toy a breeze even for the littlest of riders. A huge pro of this toy was when I took it outside and then brought it back indoors, the toy was clean! The base of the toy is raised off the ground so it didn’t get dirty while on our driveway. The Ladybird Wheely is also small enough that Princess Peach is able to push it around and carry it (or attempt to).
If you are looking for the perfect ride-on toy for your active child, grandchild, cousin, niece, nephew or friend, look no further! I promise that this toy will be a main attraction in your playroom. I know it is in ours.
